Isla Bastimentos
Bocas del Toro
Description: Red Frog is an amazingly gorgeous beach. Even though it is a bit of a trek from Bocas, it is clearly worth the effort.

To get to Red Frog Beach, you'll need to catch a water taxi to a dock on the back side of Isla Bastimentos. This trip usually costs around $10 per person (round trip) from Bocas Del Toro. Also, once you get to the dock, you'll need to pay $1 per person to use a private walkway to make the short (5 min) trek to the beach.

While walking through the jungle on your way to Red Frog Beach, keep an eye out for the little critters from which the beach gets its name. The frogs used to be fairly easy to spot, but unfortunately, due to increased tourism and land development, many of the frogs have died or moved farther into the jungle. Consequently, it's important that you treat both the frogs and their habitat with the utmost respect.

Once you make it to Red Frog Beach, you'll easily be able to find a place (either shady or sunny) to lay out and enjoy the beautiful scenery. You can also grab some food, a beer or a cocktail at a small restaurant/bar located just off the main trail.

Given the fact that it takes a bit of time to get to Red Frog Beach, make sure you allocate at least a half-day to any Red Frog Beach trip.
