Isla Bastimentos
Bocas del Toro
Bocas del Toro
Description: Wizard Beach is a huge white-sand beach on Isla Bastimentos with all kinds of room to lay out or run around and toss the frisbee.
To get to Wizard Beach, you'll need to take a water taxi to Bastimentos. From Bocas Del Toro (Bocas Town), the ride costs about $3 per person (each way). Tell your boat driver you are going to Wizard Beach and he'll drop you near the trail you can follow to the beach.
If you can't immediately find the trail, ask someone to point you in the right direction. The hike from Bastimentos town to Wizard takes approximately 25 minutes or so and can be muddy, depending on recent weather conditions. Also, make sure you bring some bug repellent, as mosquitos and chitras (sand flys) are prevalent in the jungle.
Once you hit Wizard Beach, you should have no trouble finding an uncrowded spot to lay out your stuff and enjoy the scenery. Beware of strong currents at Wizard Beach. If you are not a strong swimmer, stay only in the shallow water and never turn your back on the waves.
Also, it is not recommended to leave your valuables on the beach unattended while walking or swimming, as theft does sometimes happen at Wizard Beach.
